Karinya Montessori Children's House provides an early educational environment that supports children in their whole and natural development. We have dedicated, professional and caring staff, that are committed to each child’s development and wellbeing, and that "love" working with children.
We provide a curriculum that supports the child to learn in purposeful and self-directed ways, by giving children the opportunity to develop skills in - independence, confidence, creativity, literacy, numeracy, motor development, technological awareness all these supports curiosity of the world.
Kerri Steele the Directress of Karinya Montessori, taught in early childhood education since 1993, in both Montessori and Mainstream schools. She has an Associate Diploma in Montessori and a Bachelor of Early Education, and Pedagogical (Educational) leader within the centre.

Your child will have a choice of hundreds of activities within a prepared environment. During an average day in a Montessori classroom children are offered a range of experiences that develop skills such as independence, self-help, creative expression, numeracy, literacy, botany, zoology and geography. Providing a rich tapestry for their learning.
What will my child do in a day?
7:00am - 9:00am – Morning pre-session activities
Home room settling activities- care of the fish, set up of classroom environments and activities.Outside classroom – Care of the animals, care of the garden, sand play, physical challenge activities set up.
Session -9:00am - 12:00pm- Montessori 3 hour work cycle- inside and outside classrooms
9.00- Whole centre gathering time to advise children of the added activities and to ask if there are any activity the children would like see added. Each child then will have self-directed learning time to develop their skills and follow their interests with specialised teaching equipment. The areas that are prepared for the children daily to choose from-
Practical life - self-help skills, cooking, gardening, care of self, care of the environment, grace and courtesy.
Sensorial - touch, taste, smell and listening activities that incorporate- colours, shapes, length.
Cultural Arts - free expression activities such as art, music and dance.
Culture Science- the study of plants, animals, people, science and the world.
Numeracy - with the use of hands on equipment children will have the opportunity to learn their numbers 1- 10 and further.
Literacy - children will be given the opportunity to develop letter and sound awareness, then taught how to blend letters to make words. The basics of grammar are also shown when the child is interested.
Technology - children will have access to computers to learn more about subject areas of interest and to refine their skills.
French - children learn a second language by hands on experiences and immersion styles of teaching.
Outside environment- dependent on the day can include physical challenges, gardening, sand play, dramatic role play, art and music experiences, science experiments, numeracy and literacy.
Morning Tea is progressive and occurs from 10am-11am as required for individual children.
Small group music, dance, story, cross patterning and relaxation sessions occur as requested during the 3 hour work cycle.
12:00pm - 2:30pm
Children set tables for lunch, with placemats, plates, name cards and flower arrangements. Sitting at the table they are learning social grace and courtesy skills. They then place scraps in the recycling and scrap bins for our worm farms and towers, located in the garden.
12:30pm - Relaxation time. Children will be taught many ways to relax their bodies after a busy morning of learning.
1:00pm - Children will do not sleep will have the opportunity to have story time, dramatic play time or music time. They may also continue on with their self-directed learning activities.
Early afternoon tea is progressive and occurs from 2am to 2.30pm as required for individual children.
2:30pm - 6:00pm Afternoon session- Home room and outside classroom
3.00 – Afternoon group gathering time- to advise children of the added activities and to ask if there are any activity they would like to see added.
Home room- children may be offered small group cooking activities, practical life, sensorial and culture science activities.
Outdoors classroom- dependent on the day can include physical challenges, gardening, sand play, dramatic role play, art and music experiences, science experiments, numeracy and literacy.
4.00- Late afternoon tea- small group- shared fruit or cooking of the afternoon session.
Between -4-15- 6.00-Home room- children finish their day in the home room, with relaxed activities of their choice, play dough, blocks, yoga, stories.
Meet the Karinya Team
To be a Karinya Montessori Educator all educators are required to be very passionate Early Educators- as they are required to complete Early Education and Montessori training. As such Karinya Montessori management acknowledges this by paying educators above the child care award rate and finically supports training.
All educators complete first aid, child protection, fire safety, workplace health and safety and food safety training.
Kerri – is the Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader of the centre, she has Bachelor of Early Education and a Diploma of Montessori. Kerri is a fun and compassionate educator. Kerri can be contacted about enrolment on email@example.com
Alison – has a Diploma of Montessori (St Nicolas- London) and Diploma of Early Education and worked with children since 1991. Alison is a peaceful and compassionate educator.
Robyn – has a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services. Robyn is our Grandmotherly and Garden guru figure in the centre.
Shelly- has a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services, and is enrolled and completing her Diploma of Early Education and Advanced certificate in Montessori with the Montessori World Education Institute (Perth). Shelly enjoys preparing the environment to the highest level of excellence and is a very nurturing educator.
Angela- has a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services, and is enrolled and completing her Diploma of Montessori with the Montessori World Education Institute (Perth). Angela is a very calm and nurturing educator.
Mel- has a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services, and is enrolled and completing her Diploma of Montessori with the Montessori World Education Institute (Perth). Mel enjoys helping children within the food experiences and is a very kind educator.
Bec – has a Diploma of Early Education, and is enrolled and completing her Diploma of Montessori with the Montessori World Education Institute (Perth). Rebecca is our culture art expert and enjoys cultivating children’s interest of the arts- music and dance.
Cate- has a Bachelor of Early Education, and is enrolled and completing her Diploma of Montessori with the Montessori World Education Institute (Perth).Cate is a serene and nurturing Kindergarten teacher.
Melissa- has a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services, and is enrolled and completing her Diploma of Montessori with the Montessori World Education Institute (Perth). Melissa is a caring and compassionate educator.
Jasmine- has a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services, and is enrolled and completing her Diploma of Montessori with the Montessori World Education Institute (Perth). Jasmine is a very motherly caring educator.
Rebecca – is our accounts manager, she has a Advanced Diploma of Early Education and managers our Qikkids, MYOB and payroll systems and has a fair and compassionate manner with families. Rebecca can be contacted about fees on firstname.lastname@example.org
Mikayla – is centre assistant, she has a certificate 3 in children’s services and has a gentle manner with the children.

How do I enrol my child at Karinya Montessori Children’s House?
Currently we have a waiting group, if you wish to go into this list it will usually take 2-3months to obtain a position.
How does the enrolment procedure work?
1- Contact Kerri- 07 54 72 05 05 or firstname.lastname@example.org she will organise a tour of the centre and you will be given an enrolment pack.
2-Fill out the enrolment for and return immediately
3-You will then be placed on the information and mail out list , we ask you attend as many parent information sessions as possible to confirm your interest in enrolling your child.
4-Once obtaining a positon you will asked to attend an orientation interview where you will meet your child’s educators and be given a comprehensive orientation about all the policies and procedures about Karinya Montessori, a settling plan is then designed to best suit your child and family.
How much does it cost?
Karinya Montessori is just above the hourly rate of a normal early educational environment due to the specialised learning environment, with specialising educators and our French language immersion program.
If you are eligible you may receive federal government funding, as well as Kindergarten rebates.
